One Common, But Yet Under-used Trick To Increase Your Email Open Rate
I started my email marketing journey back in 2014 and sincerely, I have nothing but love for this model of selling. I have had a lot of up and down moments and in fact, there were even times when I was temporarily out of the business.
What I love mostly about email marketing is the fact that you can easily pull sales even when you are no longer running adverts. Many times in my life, I have woke up broke and go back to bed with several bank alerts just because of one single email that took me few minutes or sometimes some hours to craft. To be sincere, I spend several hours on some emails… it’s not easy for me as it was for everyone else. But I love writing!!! Though, my writings are crappy most times… but they are communicating and cash pulling. Those are the most important things.
Personally, the best of my lists up to date was actually the one of about 1,200 people which I built between 2014 and 2015 (mostly from free traffic). This list has been nothing but a blessing to me. I actually started with it to build my 7-Figure FLP business.
I’ve been beating about the bush, right? Don’t mind me let’s talk about that one trick you can use to increase your email open rate.
One issue with email marketing is that sometimes, it’s hard to get people to read your mails… forget branding, forget those catchy subject lines… people are just busy and there are times when they get way too many emails for someone to read in a day. So, it takes more to get your emails read…
What’s the way forward?
SMS Marketing!!!
Since last year, I’ve always made sure to collect phone numbers on every single opt-in form I published. Though, at the time I never really thought of how to use these phone numbers list and I just didn’t give that much thought to it somehow.
But then, during a webinar campaign I ran last month, I decided to try my hands on something different. I was sending SMSes as backup to every single email broadcast I send. The SMS is just to tell them that I have sent a new email. And I will quote the subject line. See an example of the one I sent today:
And with that, I saw my conversion shoot-up. I actually saw a 60.2% Open rate in one of my broadcasts. See the below picture
Although, I have to spend some extra money but it’s worth it.
It will make a lot of sense if this process can be automated (through an autoresponder series), but for now, I am having to manually send these messages but I will keep searching for such option (maybe through an autoresponder service that has SMS marketing incorporated).

I think it will even make more sense if you can add a link to the newsletter to the very SMS… I know Aweber and Getresponse usually have a link which you can share with people to view your newsletters online. I’ve never tried this, but I’ve used links in my SMS campaigns before and it worked. See an example below:
Try this and share your results with me.
Regards.
